10-year-old dies after hit by car on Razorback

A UA student has been cited for careless driving after hitting a 10-year-old girl with his car Saturday, Fayetteville police said.

The girl, identified by police as Olivia Ray, according to an article by The Morning News, died after 23-year-old Charles Frazier accidentally hit her with his Cadillac Escalade just before 9:00 a.m. while he was driving northbound on Razorback Rd., said Sgt. Bill Phalen.

Ray was leaving the Arkansas Alumni event at the Randal Tyson Track Center with a sibling when she crossed between cars stopped in the road and was hit by Frazier, Phalen said.

Frazier was distracted by the activities of the event and “he just never sees her,” Phalen said.

Police do not see any other contributing factors to the incident other than Frazier’s inattention, Phalen said. A full report is expected to be finished Monday afternoon.
