Hogs for Hearts event Friday to push healthy diets

By April Robertson

“Hogs for Hearts” kicks off at 11 a.m. Friday in the Union Connections Lounge as an educational, awareness event about  America’s number one killer, Heart Disease.

If that number doesn’t hit close to home, it might for female non-traditional students at the UA, since Heart Disease is the third-leading cause of death for women between the ages 25-44.

Students can eat heart-healthy food for free, learn ways to keep a proper diet and get blood pressure taken. Other components of the event are free t-shirts, heart health brochures and recreational prize giveaways.

The event will span the lunch hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free and open to all students, faculty, staff and the public.
