Come one, come all! The Walton Arts Center is offering student discounts for spring shows, beginning with “The Drowsy Chaperone” Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Seeking to cure his “non-specific sadness”, the main character listens to a recording of his favorite fictional musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” and is transported into the musical himself complete with over-the-top costumes, painted backdrops and sparkling furniture.
Half-price tickets are available for “The Drowsy Chaperone”, though each show has a different discount.
Cyro Baptista’s “Banquet of the Spirits”, an exploration of jazz and other melodies from the Middle East, Africa and India, has $10 tickets available for Feb. 6.
To buy tickets, students can order them online on the WAC Web site using the student promo code found at www.waltonartscenter.org/student_discounts, or order them over the phone or at the box office.
When attending the show or picking up tickets students must present a student ID with a limit of two tickets per show per ID.
Other shows for the spring semester include “One Night of Queen”, a 2-hour concert celebrating the legendary rock band performed by Gary Mullen and ‘The Works’, Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific”, a beautiful love story set on a tropical island during WWII, and the ever-popular “Grease”, starring American Idol’s Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel.
