And our ASG Senate live blog is back.
For the first time in at least the last year someone objected to approving the minutes because of a discrepancy. (I’m shocked.)
ASG Advisor Rudy Trejo:
Less than 40 spots available for Rollin’ With the Razorbacks. (Rollin with Razorbacks allows students to go to the Ole Miss game.)
ASG President Michael Dodd:
Joplin Relief Trip applications are being accepted—due Oct. 14.
Also, Dodd has a constituent response list (which I am curious to see) and is encouraging senators to attend student organization events across campus.
Roxi Hazelwood, ASG Chief of Staff
ASG is having a tailgate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
Scantrons are available in the AGS office from the Readership program.
Crosswalk Safety Awareness Day is Oct. 12. ASG members will be at two crosswalks across campus.
Senate Chair Grant Hodges
The ASG website is being updated, and minutes and legislation will be posted once the update is complete.
ASG Judiciary Committee Nominations
J.R. Baxter, Kara Phillips, Austin Cox, Robert Whipple, Ashton Williams, Will Hansen and Christopher Stalnaker were approved by unanimous consent.

ASG Senate Bill No. One: Presidential Requirement Legislation
Committee Reports:
4-0 to not pass, because of contradicting whereas clauses.
A concern was requiring two semesters of experience would make it tougher to run for ASG president, said bill author Mike Norton.
Norton recommended that Senate members amend the legislation to only require one semester of experience and that a potential candidate doesn’t have to be at the UA the fall semester before they run for ASG president.
Kayln Williams: Does the amendment set us up to have a less knowledgable ASG presidential candidate? (Hypothetically with the amendment someone could be in ASG one semester their freshman year, and then run for ASG Senate for their senior year.)
And Williams is amending the legislation so that students have to have be involved at least one semester in the proceeding year before he/she runs for ASG president.
Williams’ amendment was approved by unanimous consent.
The legislation passed.
ASG Bill No. Three: ASG Budget
The ASG budget is about $383,000, said Sen. Austin Reid.
The legislation passed with 92 percent of the vote (and no debate.)

Bill No. 4: A Bill to Fund a Joplin Relief Trip
ASG members are wanting to go Joplin with AmeriCorp on Saturday, Oct. 22.
“This is going to be like Rollin’ with Razorbacks but for service,” Reid said.
The legislation asks for $760 to rent a bus and $95 an hour to transport volunteers.
“If you like hamburgers and helping people this is for you,” Reid said. (Apparently he got free hamburgers the last time he helped out in Joplin.)
The trip would take about 40 students.
Referred to the appropriation committee.
Bill No. 5 Memorial Flagpole Appropriations Act
“It’s very much what students want,” said Matt Seubert.
“It’s been a chance for folks to come together from across our campus,” he said. “It’s a chance to have a lasting impact.”
For every donation from students, Facilities Management will match the funds.
The legislation asks for $4,000 of roll-over RSO funding from last year and $1,000 of Senate funds.
This project falls within the “core mission” of groups like ASG Senate, he said.
“It’s a unique chance to impact our campus’ history,” Seubert said.
The legislation will also give students a chance to “come together as Americans,” and “celebrate our campus’ connection to national services,” he said.
“We’ve done our best to figure it into the bigger picture what this money represents for you all,” he said.
ASG is a necessary part of getting us to our $25,000 goal, he said.
Announcements:
Vacancy elections for Senate are at the end of this month. They’re college-wide elections and 10 spots are open.
