The Best Football Movies to Get Psyched Up for the Game

The swelling of orchestral strings kick in, followed by a bold, yet somber, brass section. The players’ actions on the field turn to slow motion as they grit their teeth and prepare to give “all they got” for those few yards that are between them and paydirt.

After the play starts, it looks bleak as the defense wraps up around the running back — but his teammate comes into frame along with some linemen and pushes him into the touchdown. The crowd explodes with cheers, and everything is going to be OK. The coach will keep his job, and the players reconnect with their families.

OK, we all know how most great football movies end in their climax, but damn it, they’re just so inspiring, and they make it hard not to feel like if you try hard enough and believe in yourself, you can achieve your goals. Cheesy, yes, but oh-so-empowering.

So, in order to get psyched for this Saturday’s game against Kentucky, here’s a list of some of the best inspirational football movies to watch in anticipation for this weekend.
