    With this year's election coming to a close, constituents have begun to flock to the polls in hopes that their votes will alter the decision for what is said to be the most important election in recent history. With two politically diverse presidential candidates, this year's decision will obviously make a difference in the function of the U.S. for the next four years.

    Your one pint of blood, given at this year's Homecoming blood drive, can save three lives, according to the American Red Cross. The goal for this year's blood drive is 1,600 pints. Last year, the Homecoming blood drive barely surpassed its goal by 50 pints, acquiring a total 1,300, said Earl Hill, Homecoming blood drive chair.

    Last year, it was estimated that on any given day, a total of 1,170 homeless people resided in the Washington and Benton counties, according to the 2007 Point In Time Census of Homeless Persons. The 1,170 homeless in Northwest Arkansas contribute to a much larger 850,000 homeless people in the country.

    In 2000, an F3 tornado was heading toward the heart of the UA campus. Teachers and students alike were in a frenzy; some were oblivious of the disaster about to occur. Winds were howling, clouds were churning, and UA occupants were cowering under their desks.

    With 151 arrests for DUIs and DWIs already this year, the UA Police Department is cracking down on students who drive after drinking, a UAPD official said. "Drinking on campus has been a relatively consistent problem," said Gary Crain, UAPD public information officer.
