The Southeastern Conference Soccer Tournament starts Monday in Orange Beach, Ala., and pits the bottom four seeds against each other, including seventh-seeded Arkansas against 10th-seeded South Carolina.

This is Arkansas’ first appearance at the SEC Tournament since 2000.

The winner of Arkansas’ game, match one, will determine who takes on No. 2 seed Texas A&M Wednesday.

The second match features LSU, who finished second in the tournament last year and Ole Miss, who did not compete in the tournament in 2011.

The reigning SEC champion, Auburn (7-6-0), comes into the tournament seeded sixth and plays No. 3 seeded Tennessee (9-3-1) in match four Wednesday.

The first seed went to Florida, who only lost two of 13 games within the SEC this season to Alabama and Kentucky. Alabama did not make it to the tournament, as Florida was only one of three SEC wins Alabama managed this season.

Florida beat Arkansas midway through the season in a 4-0 shutout. The Gators have had no trouble playing as a well-rounded team that does not rely heavily on certain players and are ranked No. 11 nationally.

Florida’s first tournament match is 5 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of the LSU and Ole Miss game.

Second seeded Texas A&M followed closely after Florida with 10 of 13 wins and one tie. Florida played a close game with the Aggies, only winning 2-1.

The Aggies scored an average of 2.15 goals per game and only allowed their opponents to score an average of .5 goals per game. With a shot percentage of .115, Texas A&M comes into the tournament as a formidable opponent to Florida’s .152 shot percentage.

The third-seeded SEC team, Tennessee, earned an SEC record of 9-3-1. Arkansas was one of the three losses the Volunteers faced this season, as the Hogs beat them 1-0.

The Vols boast a .100 shot percentage, making 35 goals in the regular season. They have also forced their opponents to give up almost twice as many corner kicks as they have.

However, Tennessee has fouled more often than their opponents, leading to more yellow cards –17 total out of 211 fouls – on their own team. This could be Tennessee’s weakness going into the tournament and something other teams would likely capitalize on.

Bringing up the last of the SEC tournament seeds are Ole Miss and South Carolina.

South Carolina, seed 10, takes on Arkansas in the first game of the tournament. The last time the teams faced each other, the game ended in a 1-1 tie after two overtimes. Five of South Carolina’s games this season went into overtime and either ended in a tie or a loss.

The Gamecocks’ only win over a team that made it to the tournament was against LSU, who is seeded eighth. Their other two conference wins were over Alabama and Georgia.

The Gamecocks’ shot percentage is .080 and they have scored 18 goals out of 226 shots this season.

Seed nine, Ole Miss, won five SEC games this season, including their first SEC game against Arkansas. They also posted a win against Kentucky, who is seeded fourth.

With 43 goals scored on the whole season, the Rebels have a shot percentage of .136. The Rebels score an average of 2.15 goals per game. However, they have allowed more corner kicks than they have received.

The SEC Championship Match will be played Sunday, Nov. 4, at 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The Arkansas Razorback soccer team (9-8-1, 6-5-1 Southeastern Conference) will travel to Baton Rouge Thursday, Oct. 25, to take on the LSU Tigers (8-7-4, 4-6-2 SEC) in both teams’ last game of the season before the SEC Tournament.

LSU has battled four ranked opponents this season with one win against No. 16 Missouri and eight wins overall.

The win against Missouri, along with their defeat Ole Miss earlier in the weekend, marks the first time LSU has won two road games in the same weekend since 2009. It was also their first win over a ranked team since a win over the Florida Gators last season.

The win also set the Tigers up to land potentially in eighth place in SEC regular season standings depending on the game against the Hogs. If the Tigers lose, they will be stuck in ninth place.

LSU’s head coach Brian Lee considered the game against Missouri to be the Tigers’ best game of the year thus far.

Lee has been with the Tiger soccer team since 2004 and built the team into SEC Western Division champions and NCAA Tournament qualifiers in the 2011 season.

“They’re a good team, they’re well coached, they’re athletic and they have experience,” head coach Colby Hale said of the Tigers. “It’s a huge challenge for us to go in, but I think the girls are looking forward to it.”

The Tigers earned the SEC West crown and made it into the NCAA Tournament four of the last five seasons.

LSU remained about even with their opponents’ average goals scored per game, with 1.32 goals scored versus 1.26 allowed. However, LSU’s shot percentage is set at .109 while opponents only manage a .071 against them.

Arkansas only boasts a .089 shot percentage compared to their opponents’ collective percentage of .102. This percentage comes from 21 goals scored out of 237 shots taken this season.

The Tigers average 12.1 shots per game, and have scored 25 goals this season.

Allie Chandler and Ashleigh Ellenwood are the two leading scorers for the Razorbacks with four goals each. Seven other Hogs have combined to score the rest of the goals for Arkansas.

Goalkeeper Kelly Roliard proved to be an Arkansas standout this season with a .750 percentage of goals saved, saving 75 goals altogether.

LSU maintains a well-rounded team with one player, Alex Arlitt, with four goals scored, and the rest of the goals scored by 11 Tiger teammates.

However, Tiger goalkeeper Megan Kinneman will be an obstacle for Arkansas, as she has saved 110 goals and earned a .821 save percentage.

Arkansas has played six top-25 ranked opponents and triumphed over two of those teams: Missouri and No. 18 Kentucky. The two wins mark the first two wins over ranked teams in the program’s history.

Arkansas’ Sunday win over Mississippi State secured a spot in the SEC Tournament for the Hogs for the first time since 2000.

LSU is looking to continue their eight-game winning streak as they compete with Arkansas.

The game against LSU could have implications on the Razorback’s chances of making the NCAA tournament, but the team is not focusing on that, Hale said.

“We just think LSU’s important because it’s the next game,” Hale said.

“We approached this season from a process and just said ‘What do we need to do to win this game?’” Hale said. “If we do that and we execute and we work hard, we have a chance to win. If we win, all the bigger goals kind of take care of themselves.”

The Arkansas Razorbacks soccer team is 7-8-1 overall with a few more games left to focus on.

Friday, Oct. 12, the women’s soccer team competed against Texas A&M. Texas A&M got a pair of first-half goals from Kelley Monogue and a second half tally from Meghan Streight to capture a road win over the Razorbacks.

Monogue is a sophomore from McKinney, Texas. She is a four-time Big 12 Newcomer of the week, Big 12 Offensive player of the week, and was a part of Our Game Magazine College “Players to Watch List.”

Texas A&M is ranked No. 9 and holds a record of 14-2-1. Their Southeastern Conference record is 8-1-1. Their goal average so far this season is 2, and their point average is 7. In 2011, they were the Big 12 Conference tournament champions.

Sunday, Arkansas got its first soccer victory over Auburn since 2000. A goal from Sam Wolf in the 62nd minute held off several late attacks by Auburn for a 1-0 SEC victory over the Tigers at Razorback Field. Wolf is a sophomore from Plano, Texas. Last year, she started all 18 games at defender and led the club with 1,581 minutes played.

With 11 minutes left in the period, a Tiger foul gave Arkansas a free kick above the left corner of the 18. Allie Tripp played the kick into the six, and Ashleigh Ellenwood was just short of getting to the ball for a close header attempt. Tripp later had a header inside the six, but Howard made another save.

Auburn had three corners in the period, but Ellenwood headed two of those out of the box for easy clears by the Razorbacks.

“It wasn’t pretty, but we got the result,” head coach Colby Hale said. “We want to be a team that grinds out wins, and that’s what we did today.”

The game was also Senior Day with Andrea Carlson and Allie Chandler closing their home careers.

“Those kids have a special place in our hearts,” Hale said. “They will be sorely missed, but I’m really excited about the successes we’re having this year for them.”

The next game the Razorbacks will compete in is against Missouri. Missouri holds a record of 13-3-0 so far this season.

Missouri averages 2 goals per game and 22 assists.

Before the SEC Tournament, the Razorbacks will compete against LSU in their last scheduled game. LSU’s record is 6-7-4 so far and their goal average is 1.

Sophomore, Alex Arlitt, from Houston leads in goals for LSU. Last year, she started 22 matches for the Tigers while playing as an attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder and right back.

She scored two goals and dished out three assists for seven points on the season. Arlitt attempted 11 shots with five shots on goal on the offensive end and scored her first career goal and recorded her first career assist to lead to a 3-0 shutout of Louisiana-Lafayette on Aug. 21.

Since 2009, the UA women’s club soccer team has given high school and competitive soccer players an opportunity to play at a higher level.

Freshman right back Haley Reynebeau played at Har-Ber High School in Springdale for four years before coming to Arkansas. While she didn’t attract any Division 1 schools, she had the chance to play small college soccer.

“I was going to play at a tiny college in Kansas, but I wanted a big school,” Reynebeau said. “I’m from a 7A school, so I wanted football games on TV and stuff like that.”

Once on campus, Reynebeau sought out information on the club team and tryouts. She finally got the dates on the last day of tryouts.

“My friend and I were kind of worried, but all of the girls were really sweet,” Reynebeau said.

When the final cuts were made and the team started playing together, none of the girls really knew each other and they formed separate “cliques,” Reynebeau said.

However, these divisions disappeared after a road trip to Texas to play three games.

“After we drove to Texas, we bonded and everyone gets along with everyone now,” Reynebeau said. “It’s kind of like a high school team.”

Unlike a high school team, though, the team only practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours each day. Depending on classes and studying, some girls can only make it to one practice per week and sometimes miss games.

“We take it seriously, but we don’t practice every day,” Reynebeau said. “Our coaches realize that school comes first and they understand that we have to miss sometimes.”

The coaches’ understanding comes from the fact that they are also students and players on the team. Seniors Nora Farrell and Megan Johnson share the coaching duties.

“Playing as well as coaching is very rewarding because I not only get to know so many wonderful athletic women, but I get to constructively coach them,” Johnson said. “It’s a wonderful experience and I look forward to doing it in the future.”

This season, the Razorbacks have played five games and will play their sixth and final game this Saturday against Texas A&M-Texarkana. They have a 1-3-1 record playing in the North Conference of the Texas Collegiate Soccer League.

Before their first game, the women’s soccer club had not practiced much and barely knew each other’s names. They lost to Oklahoma State 3-1.

“I thought we did okay for not ever playing with each other,” Reynebeau said.

Reynebeau said their play has improved steadily over the season as they started “figuring everyone out.”

Their lone victory of the season came against Texas Tech. Reynebeau stresses that their conference is very tough. Texas Christian, which beat Arkansas 6-0, featured several players that had quit the NCAA team and joined the club team.

If any girls that have played high school or travel soccer are thinking about joining, they should “definitely try out,” Reynebeau said.

The club’s fee is $75 and covers all of the costs of traveling, such as transportation, lodging and food.

Even if soccer isn’t your sport, Johnson still advises students to get involved in other club sports.

“I love getting to know the girls, the athletic department personnel and the other club teams,” Johnson said. “I encourage others to get involved in club sports so they can hopefully gain similar wonderful experiences.”

When you see them in action, you can just tell. The Arkansas men’s club soccer team plays at the highest competitive level offered by the university. The team-oriented style of play brings back recent memories of what team members were familiar with growing up playing soccer.

Most of the players on the team have played on club select teams and their high school teams – enough to get valuable experience to play at a higher level. They weren’t going to let attending college keep them from continuing their personal soccer legacies.

“There are some men that come here who weren’t ready to quit soccer and didn’t want to play at a small school, so it still gives us the chance to play competitively but still have fun,” said junior Shawn Hohendorf, the team president. “There is structure to it, and everyone wants to be here.”

While most played in high school, some of the team members played at other schools and transferred to Arkansas, where they were able to find solace in the club team style. To have a few players who have played elsewhere gives the club even more credibility.

“We have a couple collegiate players who played either NAIA or Division III schools. One of them played for the Ozarks. Our goalie Weston Clegg was also a collegiate player for one year,” sophomore Christian Buechel said.

Club soccer started at Arkansas in 2006 by the now-head coach David Yanniello. The team plays in the Oklahoma Club Collegiate Soccer League, where they play regional schools such as Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. The teams with the most wins from the OCCSL advance to the NIRSA Regionals, where they would play teams from their region, IV, which is made up of teams from Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska.

Last fall, the team finished third in the OCCSL, which was good enough to advance to regionals in Columbia, Mo. The regionals this season start Oct. 26 and nationals follow on Nov. 15, where Hohendorf and the team expect to be this year.

“The Oklahoma league is in the spring too, and we are planning on playing in it this year depending on funds for travel,” Hohendorf said.

This year, the team is trying new ways to gain awareness around campus. They are hosting a fund raiser at the Chick-fil-a Oct. 17 on Martin Luther King Boulevard to help team members lessen the costs of dues for traveling and also get the word out about the team.

“In the past we really haven’t done much, but this year club sports is really pushing for social media. We use Facebook and we have a Twitter,” Hohendorf said. “On the Fridays before home games we will pass out about 100 flyers on the corner of Dickson and McElroy to get people to come out.”

The competitiveness of the club has progressed since its inauguration. Around 80 students attend the three-day tryouts for the team the first week of school. The second day they try to cut that number in half, and by the third day the team has selected its 18-member travel team, along with around 10 other players who are on the practice squad.

The team practices two nights, two hours per week, and has games every weekend in the fall. The players caravan to the away games and come back to Fayetteville after the game ends, unless they are competing in regionals or nationals.

In those cases, players stay overnight, some of the elements the members remember from when they were on club teams in high school.

“A lot of the kids played club soccer – Missouri and Texas kids who played club soccer around there,” Buechel said.

The Razorback soccer team fell in two overtimes to Vanderbilt Friday night and defeated Alabama Sunday afternoon to bring their record to 7-6-1 and 3-4-1 in the Southeastern Conference.

Head coach Colby Hale said he was pleased with his team’s effort and performance in the 3-2 loss, but the obvious goal is to win games and that did not happen.

The game was played in less than ideal conditions, as it was very cool and had been raining all day. Hale said he was actually glad his team could get experience playing in bad conditions.

“Everything we’ve had up until this point had been really nice weather and we just need to be prepared for all situations,” Hale said. “We’re going to play a game in the future or somewhere else in a match that matters and that just kind gives us some experience.”

The Razorbacks were able to rebound Sunday with a 3-1 victory over the Crimson Tide. It was the program’s first win over Alabama since 2006.

“I was really proud of them,” Hale said of his team’s ability to put an overtime loss behind them and get a win two days later. “Their resilience was fantastic.”

The Razorbacks scored five total goals over the weekend, marking the first time the team has scored multiple goals in back to back games since the beginning of last season.

“Sometimes it feels like the goal has a lid on it, and you’re creating chances and the confidence is pretty high right now in terms of those chances turning into goals,” Hale said.

The regular season is winding down for the soccer team, with only five games remaining. The final three are on the road, making this weekend’s matches the last two home games of the season.

The team will take on Texas A&M for the first time as SEC foes Friday at 7 p.m., but the teams have faced each other before.

The Razorbacks played their first season of varsity soccer in 1986 and picked up their first varsity win against Texas A&M on Sept. 21, 1986.

Arkansas holds a 4-3 edge in the overall record against the Aggies, but the teams have not met since the 1995 season.

The No. 5 Aggies are 12-2-1 overall on the season and are 6-1-1 in their first season of SEC play. In the 15 games so far this season, Texas A&M has only allowed opponents to score seven goals.

The Aggies picked up a 5-0 win against Alabama Friday night and fell to Florida 2-1 Sunday.

“They’re good,” Hale said of Texas A&M. “They’re athletic, they’re well-coached, they don’t foul, they don’t give up many goals, they create a ton. They pose a lot of problems.”

The Razorbacks close their home schedule against Auburn at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Tigers are 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the SEC.

Auburn is coming off a 2-0 win over Mississippi State and 1-0 loss at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers.

“They score a lot of goals. They’ve got some good veteran leadership in the back and the midfield,” Hale said of the Tigers.

The team’s seniors will be recognized at the game Sunday, as it will be the last home game of their Razorback soccer careers.

The team features two seniors, Andrea Carlson and Allie Chandler.

The coaching staff will always have a special place for Carlson and Chandler, because they are their first senior class, Hale said.

“I really enjoy the successes we’re having this year for them,” Hale said. “Just the hard work, they’re getting to see some of the fruit of that labor. Just two tremendous kids and players.”

The Razorback soccer team is one filled with underclassmen and only two seniors. One freshman that has made her mark this year is Lindsey Mayo.

The team has been resurgent under first-year head coach Colby Hale with a record of 6-7-1, while managing a very difficult schedule, including wins over teams like Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Texas.

Thirteen games into the season, Mayo has come off the bench to be tied with senior Allie Chandler as the team’s leading scorer with three goals.

Mayo got the first goal in her college career against a team with one of the top defenses in the country, the Ole Miss Rebels.

She slotted a 1-on-1 chance into the back of the net against the Rebel’s Kelly McCormick, one of the Southeastern Conference’s top goalkeepers.

Mayo then stepped up on a historic night for Arkansas Soccer.

In front of the second biggest crowd in school history, the freshman from Gallatin, Tenn., scored two goals, including the eventual game winner, in the Razorbacks’ 3-2 win over then-ranked No. 18 Kentucky, the program’s first win over a ranked opponent.

All three of Mayo’s goals have come against strong defensive opponents. Kentucky had only given up five goals on the season before facing the Razorbacks’ attack.

Mayo’s first goal of the match came with the help from assists by Allie Tripp and Blake Pruitt.

The game winner came less than 12 minutes after the first. Mayo headed in a corner kick from Tripp to give the Razorbacks a 3-1 lead over the Wildcats.

The Southeastern Conference rewarded Mayo’s strong performance by naming her the SEC Offensive player of the week for her play against Kentucky and her 65-minute performance in a 1-1 double overtime thriller with South Carolina.

She also played a solid 65 minutes in the Hogs’ recent 3-1 win over Alabama.

Mayo is one of only eight players that has played in all of the Razorbacks’ games this season and recently has earned her way into the mix for the starting lineup.

Coach Hale has changed up the starting lineup quite a lot this season, as she is one of over 10 players to start at least six matches this season.

Mayo is one of the biggest statistical leaders this season and leads the team in shot percentage.

Nearly half of her shots are on target. Only Jeriann Okoro has more than 10 shots and a better ratio than Mayo’s.

She has been part of a strong Arkansas attack that has scored 10 goals and has been creating a lot of goal-scoring chances in their last six SEC games.

The Arkansas Razorback soccer team earned a 3-1 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide Sunday, following a 3-2 loss Friday to Vanderbilt in two overtimes.

Arkansas took a 1-0 lead less than 20 minutes into the game when an Alabama defender had a failed pass attempt to the center of the 18-yard line. Senior midfielder Andrea Carlson sprinted to the ball and took a shot to the bottom left corner of the goal right past the goalie.

“It was so exciting,” Carlson said. “I’ve been wanting to score all year and I knew it was coming soon. Today I was like, finally, I got it.”

Alabama put up a strong defense for an Arkansas free kick at 20:48, taking possession and carrying it down the field to shoot, but Arkansas sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Roliard saved the goal.

Arkansas finished out the game in the final five minutes of the second half with a shot by sophomore forward Jeriann Okoro to the right corner of Alabama’s goal.

“I thought we did a very good job,” Carlson said. “Sometimes not as well as we should have, but I think with the way (the referee) was calling the game, we did pretty well.”

A shot attempt for Alabama came early on in the first half from a corner kick. Sophomore defender Kaylyn Cooper blocked the shot and kicked it away before another Alabama player could get to it.

The Tide managed to score when a player was tripped in the box, which resulted in a penalty kick at 27:49. Roliard was unable to stop the shot.

The Razorbacks tried to boost their lead with 15 minutes left in the first half with multiple passes and attempted shots in the box. One shot flew behind the goal, ending the attempts and giving Alabama a goal kick.

Senior midfielder Allie Chandler’s running effort paid off with five minutes left in the first half on a shot straight in the goal, setting the Hogs at 2-0.

“It (putting pressure on the back line) was very important,” Carlson said. “Because once you put her under pressure, they just get nervous and want to give the ball up like they did.”

Arkansas kicked into gear early on in the second half with a near-immediate shot on goal. The shot missed, but the play established the momentum for the rest of the game.

Carlson tried to have another moment like her goal before, but the defenders of Alabama provided more pressure in the second half. After her first shot missed, she sprung up and regained possession in time to pass to the middle, but Arkansas’ next shot rolled too far left.

After their last goal, Arkansas stepped up their defense to ensure no comeback from Alabama. The defense succeeded and gave the Razorbacks another win at home.

“We don’t really have any concerns,” head coach Colby Hale said. “We don’t really think in terms of that. We say, ‘OK, what is the next challenge ahead of us?’ It’s kind of cliche but it’s one day at a time for us.”

“There are still details we’ve got to get better at,” Hale said. “There’s still things we’re talking about that is not getting done. We talk about both sides of the point every day — what did we do well, what can we take confidence from and what do we need to do better?”

The Hogs look to earn another home win at Razorback Field Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Tomorrow, Arkansas seeks to improve their 5-6-1 overall record and 2-3-1 Southeastern Conference record when they square off with the Vanderbilt Commodores at Razorback Field.

The Razorbacks are coming off a two-game road trip in which they beat Tennessee 1-0 and fell to No. 24 Florida 4-0.

“We came out and used a lot of energy Friday (against Tennessee),” head coach Colby Hale said.

During the Florida game, Arkansas allowed three first-half goals. Although he was disappointed, Hale thought his team “absolutely” got better.

“We came out in the second half after being down 3-0, talked about who we are and being true to ourselves, and I thought they did a great job in the second half,” Hale said.

Senior forward Allie Chandler scored their lone goal on the trip. It was also Chandler’s first goal of the season.

“Allie is fantastic,” Hale said. “She’s a special attacking player, but it’s her defending now that’s (improved). She’s a complete player.”

The week before their road trip, Arkansas beat No. 18 Kentucky 3-2 and tied South Carolina 1-1.

“We’re playing with a lot of confidence,” Hale said. “(The players) are doing a great job of working hard. They believe they can win.”

Against Kentucky, freshman forward Lindsey Mayo came off the bench and scored two goals. Her performance earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Hale believes that Mayo and other players that come off the bench are important to his team’s success.

“Depth is a key for us,” Hale said. “We bring a lot of players off the bench that are going to impact the game. As the game goes on, I’d say we have the advantage.”

Vanderbilt comes into tomorrow’s game with a 4-4-5 overall record and a 1-1-4 SEC record.

“They’re good. They’re well coached, organized and athletic,” Hale said. “They’re young so I think going on the road will be interesting to see how they do in our environment.”

They are led by senior midfielder Dana Schwartz, as well as freshmen forwards Cheyna Williams and Kelsey Tillman.

“They’ve got a couple freshmen up front that are extremely athletic,” Hale said. “It’ll be a big challenge for our back four just to deal with them.”

On the road, the Commodores have proven to be formidable with a 4-2-3 record. This includes a 4-2 win at SEC foe Mississippi State. Hale is excited to have the opportunity to play them in Fayetteville.

“Home has been nice. It’s been good to us,” Hale said. “It’ll be fun and the kids love playing in front of the fans. We’re expecting good things out of this weekend.”

The Arkansas soccer team suffered a 4-0 shutout loss against the No. 24 Florida Gators Sunday after dishing out a 1-0 shutout win against Tennessee on Friday.

The Arkansas defense and sophomore goalkeeper Sam Wolf held off Tennessee’s offense for the duration of the game, but they couldn’t keep Florida’s offense from scoring three goals out of five attempted shots in the first 45 minutes

Wolf had saved two shots before Florida’s Annie Speese scored from 15 yards out off of a pass from Maggie Rodgers in the 17th minute of play to put Florida up 1-0.

Twelve minutes later, a free kick sent the Gators up 2-0. Florida’s Christen Westphal took the kick at midfield and sent it inside the box to Holly King, who shot the goal from the 4-yard line.

Arkansas tried to put points on the board with passes between junior forward Yvonne DesJarlais and sophomore forward Jeriann Okoro in the 25th minute and between Okoro, freshman forward Ashleigh Ellenwood and senior forward Allie Chandler in the seventh minute, but to no avail.

Florida struck again at 36:24 when Annie Bobbitt passed to McKenzie Barney, sending her through the defense for a one-on-one shot against Wolf. Her shot landed in the left corner of the net and cushioned the Gator’s lead 3-0.

“We fixed some things for the second half and put in the energy,” head coach Colby Hale said. “It was 45 minutes for us to play a quality team and get better.”

The Razorbacks kicked off the second half with an early shot attempt from Okoro. The shot flew over the net, though, leaving Arkansas scoreless.

Wolf blocked a shot from inside the box with the help of redshirt freshman defender Margaret Power in minute 62.

In the 78th minute, Ellenwood split a pair of defenders to take a shot, but the ball went too far to the left. One minute later, Wolf made a save on a shot from 10 yards away.

In the final 10 minutes of play, Arkansas set themselves up with multiple scoring opportunities, including a foul with a free kick and two corner kicks.

The Razorbacks had a handball in the last minute of play, giving Florida a penalty kick. Tatiana Perez scored the final goal for the Gators in the right corner of the net.

“We put extraordinary mental and physical effort and energy into the game on Friday,” said Hale. “We came out a touch flat and paid for it. Florida is an excellent team. They move the ball and we got caught chasing it.”

Florida came out of the game with 15 total shots, eight of which were on goal. Arkansas had five shots.

Arkansas’ record went down to 5-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the league.

The Razorbacks are back home this weekend for two more games. Vanderbilt visits Razorback Field 7 p.m. Friday, and the Hogs will play Alabama 1 p.m. Sunday.
