Associated Student Government candidates for president, vice president and treasurer will advance to a runoff election March 10-11, with neither ticket reaching the majority threshold of votes.

ASG Chief Justice Justyce Yuille announced the 2020 ASG general election results at 12 p.m. Monday in the Arkansas Union International Connections Lounge.

Secretary candidate Emma Kate Dillon, of the Forward As One ticket, won with 2,619 votes – 344 more than her opponent, Kalyn Jackson, of the Action for AR ticket, and 92.5 more than the majority threshold.

Presidential and vice-presidential candidates Julia Nall and Ben Cameron, of the Forward As One ticket, received 2,615 votes –– 42 more than their opponents, Katie Gardner and Lizeth Martinez, of the Action for AR ticket. Because neither ticket reached the majority threshold of 2,626.5 votes needed to win, both will advance to the runoff election.

Treasurer candidate Elizabeth Kimbrell, of the Action for AR ticket, received 2,509 votes –– 83 more than her opponent, Jissel Esparza, of the Forward As One ticket. Because neither ticket reached the majority threshold of 2,541.5 votes, both candidates will advance to the runoff election.

Voting for the 2020 runoff election opens Tuesday, March 10 at 9 a.m. and closes Thursday, March 12 at 4 p.m. The ASG Judiciary will post the election packet, available to candidates and the public, before 5 p.m.

There were no election violation complaints filed during the 2020 ASG general election.
