Bikes Parked

For those interested in beating the crawling line of vehicles during Razorback football game days, the Office of Sustainability is offering a bike valet for home games.

The Office of Sustainability has been planning on doing a bike valet for football games for some time, Dane Eifling, the Bicycle and Pedestrian program coordinator for the Office of Sustainability said.

The bikes are stored in a roped-off and secure area, Eifling said. Customers receive a ticket with a unique number to exchange for their bikes when they return.

Workers from the bike share company VeoRide helped staff the bike valet, Eifling said. At the first game, VeoRide bikes were also available.

In the future, Eifling hopes that the bike valet will be similar to a miniature tailgate and offer food and drinks, he said.

There is no alcohol policy for patrons of the bike valet, Eifling said.

Ten customers used the bike valet for the first home game, Eifling said.

“We were really pleased. Ten wasn’t a huge number, but for the first one, we were encouraged,” Eifling said.

The bike valet is located near the bus station on the south side of the Arkansas Union.

At this point, the bike valet will only be available at home football games, Eifling said.

The next home football game is against the Colorado State Rams on Sept. 14.
