Active COVID-19 cases on campus have increased slightly following a downward trend in recent weeks.
Cases remained at 41 on Wednesday, the same number reported Monday. Thirty-eight were students, and three were staff members, according to the UA COVID-19 dashboard.
From Oct. 12-13, there were 10 new cases reported and four new recoveries. In addition to the six self-reported, on-campus testing reported four new cases to the UA Emergency Management. There were no reports from the Arkansas Health Department.
There have been 9,651 tests performed on campus with 1,680 total recoveries. Of the tests performed, 722 were positive, generating a 7.5% positivity rate.
Twenty-two cases are pending, according to the dashboard. There is a 93% availability of quarantine and isolation space for on-campus students.
Across Arkansas, active cases rose to 6,924 Wednesday with 884 new reported cases, according to the ADH. There have been 90,235 cases reported across Arkansas.
Chancellor Steinmetz is scheduled to deliver his annual State of the University speech virtually to the campus on Thursday. The speech will stream live on the UA YouTube channel. Steinmetz said in a press statement that he plans to explain how the university has stayed focused on its academic mission amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
