Fayetteville Police Department officers are investigating after a passerby found a dead body in a wooded area near South Razorback Road on Monday.

The death was an apparent suicide by hanging, and no foul play is suspected, Capt. Mike Reynolds said. The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to confirm the cause of death.

The death was reported on Jan. 6 at 12:40 p.m., according to the FPD Police & Fire Dispatch Log.

Police have identified the body but will not release the person’s name until they notify the deceased’s next of kin.
