Update 8:30 p.m. - Police officers arrested a suspect in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, at about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to a FPD press release.
Officers arrested the suspect, Lee Massey, 30, on charges of first-degree battery for shooting Tyler Wayne Yeakley, 31, once in the head, according to the press release.
Massey was previously found guilty of being in possession of a controlled substance in July 2015 and found guilty of second-degree sexual assault in December 2012 in Sebastian County.
Yeakley was previously found guilty of burglary and terroristic threatening of the first-degree in January 2018 in Washington County.
Fayetteville Police Department officers are investigating a shooting that took place at 6:23 a.m. Wednesday at the Bedford Apartments on Bedford Loop, an FPD sergeant said.
The suspect fled before police arrived at the scene, and emergency officials took the victim, who is not associated with the university, to a hospital, FPD Sgt. Anthony Murphy said. Murphy did not want to identify the hospital to protect the victim’s safety, he said.
The Fayetteville Police Department cannot provide any more information at this time, Murphy said.
