The Marshall Arkansas

A Cat wheel excavator scoops dirt Jan. 29 at the construction site designated for The Marshall Arkansas apartment complex. The apartments are expected to be completed by fall 2021.

Construction has started on a new student housing complex with more than 600 units set to open August 2021 less than a mile from Baum-Walker Stadium.

The seven-story apartment complex, The Marshall Arkansas, will be on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Razorback Road and will have amenities including a fitness facility and gathering spaces, said Phil Jones, the business development officer for C.R. Crawford Construction, the company working on the project.

“It’s the ideal location for a student housing complex,” Jones said. “It’s within walking distance of all types of restaurants from Chick-fil-A to Torchy’s Tacos. It’s convenient.”

Aptitude Development officials hired C.R. Construction for the project, which began in December, Jones said. Workers will demolish old structures and clear the land before starting on the building.

“We’ll be on track and are very confident that we’ll stay on schedule for this project,” Jones said. “The best construction projects have a high level of trust, and so far there’s a high level of trust among all parties.”
