Sophomore Kethlin Campbell rounds the corner in the 4x400 meter Feb. 9 at the Tyson Invitational.



The Razorbacks track and field team took on the Tyson Invitational last weekend, winning several individual races and field events.

In field events, senior pole vaulter Rylee Robinson earned second place with a jump of 4.13 meters in the pole vault. Freshman J’Alyiea Smith earned second place in the high jump with her best jump of 1.72 meters. Redshirt multiple events senior Kelsey Herman took on fifth place in long jump with a mark of 5.96 meters.

Senior sprinter and hurdler Payton Chadwick, placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.15 seconds. Senior Kayla White from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, won the race beating Chadwick by less than a second at 22.82. Sophomore sprinter Kethlin Campbell placed eighth in the race in 23.44 and Jada Baylark ran the race in 23.64, taking 11th place.

The 4x400 meter relay team placed second with a time of 3:31.35. University of Southern California won the race by one second in front of Arkansas with a time of 3:30.43 minutes.

Five of Arkansas’ long distance runners finished strong in the one-mile race. Freshman distance runner Quinn Owen placed in the top three, taking third with a time of 4:49.31 minutes. Junior Alex Ritchey finished in fifth place with a time of 5:03.63. Redshirt sophomore Greta Taylor placed ninth, finishing in 5:06.03, freshman Josie Carson placed 11th with a time of 5:08.07 and sophomore Payton Brown placed 14th with a time of 5:18.05.

Senior sprinter Kiara Parker ran the 60-meter dash in 7.28 seconds, earning fourth place. Junior sprinter Jada Baylark finished right behind Parker in fifth place with a time of 7.31.

In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore sprinter Janeek Brown finished in 7.95 seconds, a time good enough to earn second place. Sophomore Chanel Brissett from USC, placed first in the race, just in front of Brown with a time of 7.90.

Junior middle distance runner Alex Byrnes placed third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:06.85.

Sophomore sprinter Morgan Burks-Magee placed fifth in the 400-meter in 53.71 seconds. USC sprinter Kyra Constantee won the race with a time of 53.07. Redshirt senior sprinter Sydney Hammit placed ninth with a time of 54.08, and freshman sprinter Tiana Wilson finished 12th with a time of 54.85.

In the men’s 400-meter sprints, redshirt sophomore Jalen Brown placed fifth, finishing in 46.70 seconds. Sophomore sprinter Hunter Woodhall placed seventh just behind Brown, with a time of 47.07.

Freshman sprinter Carl Elliott took fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 7.81 seconds.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth in 3:07.17 minutes. Florida State University took first place with a time of 3:03.17.

In field events, senior thrower Jeff Rogers took seventh place with a mark of 17.02 meters. Redshirt senior thrower Sam Kempka finished 11th with a mark of 15.95 meters.

The Razorbacks will compete at home again Feb. 15 in the Arkansas Qualifier.
