Razorback women’s track and field head coach Lance Harter has been chosen to be inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame, the group announced Monday.
“I’m very honored to be inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame,” Harter said in a text message. “Instantly, I think of all the athletes who enjoyed so much success at Cal Poly SLO and their dedication to a program that struggled with financial support but overcame those obstacles with dedication, tenacity and teamwork. I was very fortunate to share those experiences with all of the athletes and my fellow coaches.”
Before he joined the Hogs, Harter was the head coach at California Polytech State University-San Luis Obispo from 1981-1990, where he won 14 national championships and was named the Division II Coach of the Year 10 times.
In his 27th season with the Razorbacks, the Hogs are ranked No. 2 in the country and Harter has led Arkansas to two National Championships in the past two seasons. Among his other list of accomplishments, he has coached Team USA in the 1984 World Indoor Track & Field Championships that were in Paris.
Harter will join four others in the 2017 class of inductees June 6 at the Pomona Mining Company in Pomona, California.
