Three members of the Razorback gymnastics squad were awarded with All-SEC honors Thursday as the team sets its sights on competing in conference and national competitions in the upcoming weeks.
Freshman Paige Zaziski was rewarded for a standout debut season for Razorbacks gymnastics by being named as Co-SEC Freshman of the Year. She shares the honor with Florida Gator Kennedy Baker.
Zaziski becomes the second gymnast in program history to win the award after a season of performances that included scoring a program record breaking 9.950 on the uneven bars and winning seven event titles. She set a program first by gaining SEC Freshman of the Week honors three times.
She was also the only freshman in the conference to participate as an all-arounder in every meet this year along with being the lone Arkansas representative on the All-SEC Freshman team.
Amanda Wellick, the only other gymnast in program history to win SEC Freshman of the Year, followed her impressive first year with 14 event titles and a second straight season as an all-arounder for the Razorbacks at every meet.
She earned an All-SEC spot by scoring a 9.900 on the vault at the SEC Gymnastics Championship. It was her seventh straight score on the vault valued at 9.900 and above.
Wellick and Zaziski both earned honors in the vault while Heather Elswick earned honors on the floor.
Elswick was recognized with a place on the All-SEC team for the first time by tying for the best score on the floor during the aforementioned conference championship.
She set new career highs in all three of her regular routines with a 9.950 on the vault, 9.925 on the floor, and 9.725 on the uneven bars.
