The Arkansas women's Basketball team beat Binghamton 72-23 Saturday night in Albuquerque to claim the New Mexico Tournament Title. The Razorbacks beat Southeast Missouri 88-37 the day before to advanced to the finale.

The Razorbacks kept the Binghamton Bearcats under double figures at halftime. The Bearcats ended the game with only 8 of their 46 shots from the field going in, giving the Razorbacks the chance to run away with the game.

“I just think it’s something that we’ve always been good at and these freshmen are understanding that it’s important,” head coach Tom Collen said. “We are going to need it for the SEC. I think they’re understanding it and some are further ahead than others.”

The hogs out did the Bearcats in almost every way, from rebounds, free throws and even blocks and steals. The Razorback players seemed to have their best game of the season so far with multiple players contributing.

Freshman Jessica Jackson put up double digits for the seventh time this season while McKenzie Adams put 12 points on the board making 4 out of her 5 three pointers.

“I really thought going into this year, Kenzie was going to be our best three-point shooter,” Collen said. “She’s just been real up and down with it, but tonight is the kind of night we like to see from her.”

Jashmin Bowen put up an impressive number when she followed up her first night by shooting for 15 points against the Bearcats. She had shot a career best 20 points the night before against Southeast Missouri.

The Razorbacks started out poorly on offense shooting only 31 percent but kept themselves in the game by out rebounding the Bearcats 11 to 2 in the first 6 minutes. This helped the Razorbacks get a 10-0 lead.

The Bearcats had 10 turnovers in the first half because of Arkansas’ full court press and let Arkansas go on a 15-5 run before the end of the first half.

The second half wouldn’t be too much different, with Arkansas starting out on a 10-3 run extending their lead to 45-9. Arkansas would have a 20-3 run late in the game.

The Razorback's next game will be on the road against 4-3 Kansas Dec. 4.
