Springdale tornado aftermath

An EF3 tornado that ripped through Springdale the morning of March 30 razed the gymnasium of George Elementary on the east side of the city. In the days following the tornado, crews used heavy equipment including skid steers and excavators to clear the debris left by the destruction.

A home just half a mile from Fayetteville’s city limits stands in shambles with a large portion of the roof torn off following the March 30 tornado that struck Springdale. Dozens of houses, apartment buildings and mobile homes throughout the city were ravaged by the strong tornado, leaving many families scrambling for emergency shelter in local small businesses, the Jones Center and elsewhere.

In addition to lifting the roofs off of houses and businesses and downing a cell phone tower, the March 30 tornado in Springdale ripped trees out of the ground and knocked them onto power lines, buildings, and vehicles.
