Weekender 3/3

Even though there might be a pause in nice weather, Northwest Arkansas still has plenty to offer for residents to enjoy this weekend. Meteorologists have forecasted heavy showers throughout Friday, but Saturday and Sunday will hopefully entail sunshine and blooming flowers. We’ve gathered some great happenings to enjoy rain or shine.

Music

Rick Ross

Rapper and producer Rick Ross will be performing songs that have topped the charts throughout his career Friday night at JJ's Live. Venue staff will give out Ross’ flavor of Rap Snacks chips during the show. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale starting at $64.

Ulysses Jones Jr.

Powerhouse jazz performer Ulysses Jones Jr. will be performing Saturday night at the Walton Arts Center. The big band drummer has been featured on numerous Grammy Award-winning albums and promises to delight Fayetteville jazz lovers. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are on sale for $33.

Comedy

Sarah Colonna

Stand-up comedian Sarah Colonna will be cracking jokes all weekend long at the Grove Comedy Club in Lowell. The comedian, author and actor stars in the Netflix show “Insatiable” as Angie and plays Lori on the hit show “Shameless.” Tickets are sold out for the 7 p.m. show Friday and the 6:30 p.m. show Saturday, but they are still available for Saturday’s 9 p.m. show for $20.

Sports

Razorback Baseball vs. Wright State

The Arkansas baseball team will be playing Wright State Friday through Sunday. The No. 8 Razorbacks endured a midweek challenge against Illinois State and are ready to string wins together throughout the weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium. Tickets are available starting at $10.

Men’s Basketball vs. Kentucky

The Razorbacks will host Southeastern Conference rival Kentucky on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. The Hogs have a tough game ahead of them against the No. 23 Wildcats, as head coach Eric Musselman’s group continues to make moves toward the NCAA Tournament this month. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. Tickets are sold out, but resale options are available.

Softball - Woo Pig Classic

The Razorback softball team has a packed weekend ahead of it. The team will clash with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. Friday and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, North Texas at 5:30 p.m Friday and 12:15 p.m. Sunday and finally Iowa State at 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available for $5.
