The Graduate School and International Education will expand to include the UA Rome Center starting July 1, the director of the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange said.

Officials made the move so more students can be part of long-term study abroad programs in the area, Director Dede Long said.

“The Rome Center was developed out of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design and while we have used the center for other programs, they were only short-term,” Long said.

Short-term programs include intersession or summer sessions, Long said.

“Our goal is to have programs for all of the university’s community,” Long said. “This has been in discussion for a while, and while it does start July 1, there is still a lot of planning ahead.”
