Muss pic for non-con story

Head men's basketball coach Eric Musselman shouts instructions during a 2019 game against Montana. Musselman and his staff released the 2021-22 non-conference schedule Monday.

The Razorback men’s basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for the 2020-21 season Monday. The schedule comprises nine games at home in Bud Walton Arena and four outside of Fayetteville.

The season starts November 9 as the Mercer Bears take on the Razorbacks at Bud Walton Arena, kicking off a three-game homestand. The Bears came out on top in the 2015-16 season, when the two clubs last faced off, but the Hogs will look to move the all-time record against Mercer to 5-1.

This will be the first taste that Razorback fans will get of the Hogs since their Elite Eight loss against the eventual NCAA champion Baylor.

In the 2020-21 season, the Hogs started off with a big win against Mississippi Valley State with a final score of 142-62. Arkansas is looking to start its season with a win for the third year in a row.

The Razorbacks will be one of four teams participating in the Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, first competing against Kansas State. The winner will play the winner of the Illinois-Cincinnati game. The losers of each game will compete against one another to round out the tournament.

The Hogs will return to Fayetteville to play two in-state opponents, the Little Rock Trojans and the Central Arkansas Bears. The Bears and the Razorbacks had their first regular season matchup in the 2020-21 season. The Razorbacks took the competition with a 100-75 victory in Bud Walton Arena.

The next team the Hogs will face is the five-time Sun Belt Conference champion Little Rock Trojans. It will be the first regular season contest between the two teams.

Arkansas will then face off against a future Southeastern Conference opponent, the Oklahoma Sooners, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as the Hogs fight for a  13-11 lead in the all-time series. The last game between the two teams took place during the 2017-18 season.

The Hogs will round out non-conference play as they take on the West Virginia Mountaineers as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge at Bud Walton Arena. Arkansas is currently 1-0 against the Mountaineers, with their first and only contest coming during non-conference play during the 2006-07 season.
