The No. 8 Razorback soccer team took home a 4-1 win against Georgia as the Hogs increased their win streak to nine games Sunday.
Arkansas got off to a blazing start, scoring three goals in the first eight minutes.
The first score came at the 58-second mark, as freshman forward Sophia Aragon assisted on a goal from senior midfielder Taylor Malham, her sixth score of the season.
Three minutes later, the Razorbacks scored again, as Malham delivered a pass to senior forward Parker Goins to bump the early lead to two. Goins added to an impressive statistical slate that includes six assists and six goals on the season.
The next goal came in the eighth minute, as senior midfielder Kayla McKeon sent a free kick past the Georgia defense and into the net, scoring her second of the year.
Georgia avoided the shutout with a goal of its own in the 14th minute, from Bulldog midfielder Abby Boyan.
Malham added to an already prolific offensive game with another goal in the 48th minute to secure the 4-1 victory for Arkansas.
Malham was hard to miss, as she had two goals and an assist on the night, and she was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday morning.
“I wasn’t really expecting it, considering I hadn’t really played defense until this year, (so) it’s pretty cool,” Malham said.
Senior goalkeeper Hannah Warner has been nearly unbeatable in the last nine games, as the lone Georgia goal was only the fourth given up during that stretch for the Hogs. Warner finished the game with four saves.
Arkansas was dominant throughout, as the Razorbacks outshot Georgia 15-9. The Razorbacks took the early lead and held it for the rest of the contest.
Arkansas will look to make it 10 straight as it takes on Alabama at 6 p.m. Thursday in Fayetteville. The match will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
