Moses Moody

Freshman guard Moses Moody dribbles during Saturday’s win over Texas A&M. Moody posted 56 points in two games last week to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors for the third time this season.

Arkansas shooting guard Moses Moody was named Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week alongside LSU’s Cam Thomas on Monday, March 8. This is the second straight week that Moody has received the honor and the third time this season.

Moody averaged 28 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals during the week in the 101-73 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Tuesday, March 2 and the 87-80 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, March 6. He shot a combined 19-30 from the court, including 9-17 from 3-point range and was 9-10 from the free throw line.

Moody has scored 20 or more points in eight games this season. He finished the regular season with 17.5 points per game, the third-most in the SEC.

"He’s continued to get better all season long,” Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman said in a Zoom postgame press conference after the win over Texas A&M. “He’s one of the best three-point shooters in college basketball. You saw what he can do defensively with that blocked shot tonight. And then you just look at his freshman stats, where he compares nationally. Those would be some of the arguments. He’s a go-to player on one of the two best teams in the league."

The No. 8 Razorbacks (21-5, 13-4 SEC) were previously ranked 12th in the nation and are on a 11-game SEC winning streak. The Hogs are ranked in the top 10 for the first time since 1995.

The SEC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 10 in Nashville, Tennessee, in Bridgestone Arena. Arkansas is the No. 2 seed and will have a two-round bye. The Hogs will play either the Missouri Tigers or the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday, March 12.
