The No. 4 Arkansas women’s golf team tied for seventh place at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C., after shooting a final-round 295 Sunday.
The 11-over 295 in the final round was the best score of the three-day event for the Razorbacks and it was also one of the lowest scores of the day.
“We hunt tough today,” head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said. “It is not quite where we want to finish but did a lot of good stuff. There is a lot of good things we can come home and work on. That is the exciting part just identifying areas we can improve and grow. This group is resilient and they fought for three rounds.”
Sophomore Gabriela Lopez was the low finisher for the Razorbacks, finishing 25th overall after shooting a 222 with rounds of 69-81-72.
Freshman Summar Roachell tied for 31st overall in the best collegiate weekend of her career. She shot a 224 with rounds of 78-69-77.
Senior Emily Tubert was the picture of consistency, shooting a 75 in each round of the tournament for a 225 on the weekend, placing her in a tie for 36th overall.
Sophomore Regina Plasencia and senior Emma Lavy rounded out the scoring for Arkansas with finishes of 42nd and 68th, respectively.
Plasencia shot a 227 with rounds of 81-75-71 and Lavy used rounds of 75-81-77 for a weekend score of 233.
“I was excited for Regina - she got better every day,” Estes-Taylor said. “I think we have her moving in the right direction. Gaby birdied two of her last three and everyone showed some good things out there today.”
The No. 3 Duke Blue Devils won the event with an 863 followed by No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 21 LSU and No. 5 Oklahoma to round out the top five.
