The Arkansas Razorback women’s golf team tied for ninth place in the three-day event at The Ally at Old Waverly in West Point, Mississippi, from Oct. 19- 21.

The Hogs tied for ninth place out of fifteen with the Vanderbilt Commodores at the 54-hole event. Both teams scored +15, and the South Carolina Gamecocks won the overall event with a score of -12.

Redshirt junior Brooke Matthews took home runner-up in the event shooting 7-under-par, trailing South Carolina’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard by seven strokes.

Matthews once again put up excellent numbers, following her dominant performance at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, where she won the individual title by five strokes.

Matthews' numbers improved each day of the event, finishing with a score of 68 in the third round to climb the leaderboard from seventh to second. On day three, she birdied four times in a bogey-free round. After six rounds this season, Matthews has played just one round over par. Both of her career-best 54-hole scores, 206 and 209, have come during the past two events.

Sophomore Ela Anacona finished second among Razorback participants, accumulating a score of 222. She put up a 77 on the final day and tied for 38th across the three-day event. Behind Anacona was sophomore Kajal Mistry. She scored a 74 on the final day and tied for 45th, with a total score of 223.

Freshman Cory Lopez and sophomore Julia Gregg both shot for 77 in the final round. The three-day performance was good enough for Lopez to share 49th while Gregg settled for 67th.

With all 14 Southeastern Conference programs at the three-day event, the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles were the only team outside of the SEC to compete in The Ally.

The Arkansas Razorback women’s golf team will have one last event in the fall season. The Hogs will travel to Athens, Georgia, to compete in the Liz Murphy Fall Collegiate Classic from Friday, Nov. 6 to Sunday, Nov. 8.
