Q: Who or what inspired you to start competing in gymnastics?

“When I got into the higher levels, there were some many lead gymnasts like Nastia Liukin and Hollie Vice who inspired me to do well.”

Q: How old were you when you first started learning gymnastics.

I was two years old.

Q: Do you have any members of your family who are gymnasts?

No, but my mom was a cheerleader in high school and college.

Q: What’s been your biggest accomplishment so far with gymnastics?

Before I came here, I got a skill named after me so that was really exciting. Also, being the first freshman to be first team All-American here and to be first all-around in the country.

Q: What are your goals for your Senior year?

For myself, to definitely be on the podium at Nationals for all-around and hopefully for an event or two. As a team, we just want to have one of the best years here in program history and make it to Super Six and be able to place in the top three or four.

Q: What are you doing to encourage everyone else on the team?

I try to keep everyone focused on what our goal is. If I see someone struggling I try to calm them down for practice and keep them going.

Q: How did you feel when you were ranked No. 1 overall in the country two weeks ago?

It motivated me more to try to stay at the spot and I think it motivated other girls on the team too.

Q: What’s your favorite area to compete in?

It’s hard for me to choose between vault and floor. I have a very unique vault. The one I compete in is very different than everyone else’s.  I also like floor because I like to tumble and I have a new routine this year that I love.
